Chinese Brush Painting

Instructed by: Eileen Fong

The workshop will cover both traditional and modern watercolour-on-ricepaper techniques. It is designed for beginners who have no previous experience in drawing or painting. The small class setting allows for individual attentions and repeat students are welcome. During each day's session, a new subject will be introduced. The participants will be encouraged to compose and express freely with brush strokes. Aiming for a small painting each day is not only rewarding but has indeed passively acquired much knowledge, such as: moisture control, composing, drawing, mixing colours and the unique brush strokes. Background and wet-mount techniques for the finishing touch will also be taught.

Birds & Blooms - Learn how to draw birds, leaves and petals using brush stroke technique. Mixing colours, moisture control ,composition, background painting and wet-mounting will be covered. Students will have the experience of completing a couple of small watercolour paintings on ricepaper.

Landscapes - Learn how to draw trees, rocks, waterfall, clouds, and mountains using ink and brush sketching technique. Colouring and misty effect will be covered.
